Calon Energy Ltd owns three gas fired power stations in the UK totalling >2GW in output and is run with a very small central organisation supporting the power station assets (which are also tightly resourced). 

To support both its operating assets and its development activities, Calon utilised the services of GJ Power Consulting Ltd (GJPCL) between January 2018 and August 2020.  The services provided included project management on specific development projects, operations and maintenance support to the generation assets and expert advice on key contract negotiations, both EPC for equipment supply and long term service arrangements for CCGT plant maintenance.

GJPCL provides a depth of experience in the power generation field across both the UK and international power projects.  Accessing this experience provided valuable input into Calon’s development and operational process.  The relationship with GJPCL would have continued beyond August 2020 however a change in strategic direction by Calon in mid-2020 placed a moratorium on project development.  Without this change of direction GJPCL would have continued supporting the business beyond mid-2020.

All of the work from GJPCL was delivered with accuracy, in a timely fashion and with very high levels of expertise, all of which provided substance to the deliverables. 

I wouldn’t hesitate to use GJPCL again and organisations operating in the thermal generation market, either in the UK or internationally, would be highly likely to find that any input from GJPCL would add significant value to their business. - Simon Jameson, Director of Operations & Projects (Retired)
